Introduction to the ALEKS-PPL math placement test
Prince George's Community College uses McGraw-Hill ALEKS-PPL as its Math placement test for incoming, traditional, college students. If you have completed the test, use the table below to discover your math course placement. If you have not taken the test yet, please visit the College's placement test website.
Log into ALEKS-PPL using your PGCC Owl Link account to continue your prep and learning modules. The modules only work on desktop and laptop computers.
Quick Facts about ALEKS-PPL
- ALEKS-PPL only works on desktop and laptop computers. Do not use phones, tablets, or other devices.
- Valid ALEKS-PPL scores are always from 0 - 100.
- ALEKS-PPL is an adaptive, free-response math placement test, with an emphasis on replicating the pen-to-paper experience. There are no multiple-choice questions on the ALEKS-PPL test.
- There is no study guide nor practice test for the ALEKS-PPL test. After you take the test the first time, the ALEKS platform will create a Prep and Learning module for you, based on your results.
- The typical testing time is 1 hour and 30 minutes, but there is a maximum time limit of 2 hours.
- Each attempt at the ALEKS-PPL test must be completed in a single sitting, within the time limit.
- The ALEKS platform only allows two (2) attempts within a two year period.
- Each ALEKS-PPL attempt may ask any number of different questions, but will never exceed 25 questions.
- When you finish the ALEKS-PPL math placement test, the ALEKS platform creates a series of prep and learning modules to help you improve your math skills for another attempt.
- The ALEKS platform may forbid additional test attempts, until you complete at least 5 hours of total work in the modules.
- PGCC will only accept proctored ALEKS-PPL attempts from transfer students.
